Galapagos is a tall, correct buck with excellent dairy character. His daughters have done very well in linear appraisal, averaging 85.6. Their udders are beautiful. They have good height in the rear, well defined teats with plumb or near-plumb placement, strong medial suspensory ligaments, with an attractive balanced shape. They are also heavy milkers. During the first 120 days of lactation in 2012, his second freshening daughters have averaged well over 10 pounds of milk, per day. At her peak, Blackhoof Oh Susanna produced over 15 pounds per day.
Galapagos’ dam, GCH Wingwood Farm AG Guadalajara 4*M 4-07 91(EEEE), had excellent general appearance, and a long, level body. According to Wingwood Farm,
her “udder has a very pleasing shape, very balanced and symmetrical, with good height into the escutcheon and a very strong, beautifully defined medial suspensory ligament with perfectly plumb teats.”
Galapagos’ sire, SGCH +*B Wingwood Farm TS Timothy 5-06 88(VEE), produces does that milk well into late lactation. His daughter, SGCH Wingwood Farm Tim Aminance 1*M 92(EEEE), produced over 3,000 pounds on her third lactation. His daughter, Wingwood Farm Tim’s Tansy 9*M, also scored 92 (EEEE) in linear appraisal.
